As part of Operation Fansan Yamma, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a robust series of independent air missions aimed at dismantling bandit networks in Northwest Nigeria. Known as Operation Farautar Mujiya, the campaign began with strategic night airstrikes on known bandit hideouts in Zamfara and Kebbi states.
The first wave, conducted on November 8, 2024, was based on confirmed intelligence revealing heightened terrorist activities in key strongholds of notorious bandit leaders.
Leveraging advanced surveillance and precision technology, NAF forces launched an unexpected assault on multiple locations, including Sangeko near Kebbi’s border with Zamfara and the fortified base of the infamous bandit leader Ado Aleiro around Asola Hill in Tsafe Local Government Area.
These strikes dismantled an essential arms depot under Aleiro’s control, severely weakening his fighters and curbing the bandits’ operational strength.
Intelligence and Battle Damage Assessments have verified the strikes’ success, noting the destruction of several camps and disruption of bandit networks. In the chaos, several kidnapped individuals managed to escape, finding refuge in Kebbi State and recounting their ordeals to authorities.
This ongoing air campaign has renewed hope among residents who have lived under the shadow of banditry for years. The NAF’s precision and effectiveness in these operations reinforce the Nigerian Armed Forces’ dedication to restoring peace and security in the region. Updates on Operation Farautar Mujiya will continue as this targeted offensive progresses.
