Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has officially signed the 2025 state appropriation bill into law on Monday, marking a significant step forward in the state’s fiscal agenda.
This milestone occurred just days after the State House of Assembly approved the budget, totaling N698,659,496,000, for the 2025 fiscal year. The financial plan comprises N265,037,496,000 allocated for recurrent expenditures, while a substantial N433,622,000,000 is designated for capital projects.
During the signing ceremony held at the Executive Council Chamber in Akure, the state capital, Governor Aiyedatiwa described the 2025 budget, aptly named the “Budget of Recovery,” as a transformative blueprint aimed at revitalising Ondo’s economy and tackling pressing socio-economic challenges. He emphasised that the budget prioritises key sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and education, viewing these investments as critical to enhancing the well-being of Ondo’s residents.
Aiyedatiwa while reassuring the populace, reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering economic growth, ensuring sustainable food security, building resilient communities, and promoting social inclusion and security.
In his opening remarks, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Olamide Oladiji, commended the governor for his steadfast commitment to driving progress across vital sectors of the state’s economy. He highlighted the budget as a crucial instrument for advancing good governance, stimulating economic development, and upholding social equity throughout Ondo State.
Also at the ceremony is the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, alongside lawmakers, members of the executive council, and other prominent stakeholders, underscoring the collective commitment to the state’s ambitious 2025 agenda.
