South African sprinter, Akani Simbine raced to a 100m gold medal finish in Sweden on Thursday at the Stockholm Diamond League.
Simbine raced to a Season’s best finish of 10.02s (-0.5) beating Reece Prescod and Jimmy Vicaud. Both athletes finished at 10.15 and 10.19s respectively.
Recall that Simbine had lost his 100m title at the African Athletics Championship earlier in the month to Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala.
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan came second behind Olympic champion Puerto Rican hurdler, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn. It was Camacho-Quinn’s third Diamond League win of the season. Quinn finished the race at 12.45s while Amusan finished at 12.50s with both athletes finishing almost neck-to-neck.
Amusan beat world champion, Nia Ali to third place as the American finished at 12.53s.
