Al Ahly President, Mahmoud El Khatib has ordered the reduction in salaries of players after a shocking penalty shootout loss to El Gaish in the Egyptian Super Cup.
A miffed and disappointed Al Khatib ordered that each player’s salary should be cut by 300,000 Egyptian Pounds ($19,100) after El Gaish defeated the reigning Egyptian champions 3-2 on penalties.
A statement released on Al Ahly’s website late on Tuesday night also revealed that a member of the technical team will also suffer same fate as the players.

Al Ahly have enjoyed significant success in Egypt and on the continent and have won the CAF Champions League for two consecutive years after a seven-year hiatus.
The club’s faithful were also left angered by the result against a less glamorous opposition. However the decision by Al Khatib is shocking and players are yet to react to the directive.
