The hearing against Alabi Quadri resumed on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Quadri, a teenager who went viral in 2023 for standing in front of Peter Obi’s convoy, has been in custody since January this year.

New Central reports that Quadri was allegedly abducted by area boys upset over being excluded from the financial gifts he received following his viral moment. His lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, explained that the boys dragged him to the Amukoko Police Station, where he was detained and later arraigned with four strangers.

The police accused Quadri and the others of conspiring to commit armed robbery with cutlasses, allegedly stealing N579,000 and four mobile phones. Effiong insists his client, who is under 18, is being unfairly targeted by the criminal justice system.

Thursday’s proceedings took place at the Apapa Magistrate Court located at Orege, Ajegunle — Sikiru Adagun Courthouse (Court No. 9) — and were presided over by Magistrate A. O. Olorunfemi (Mrs.). Notably, human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi was also present in court.

Quadri has now appeared before the Magistrate three times. He and the four adults remain in custody, pending legal advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Following a joint request by Effiong’s team and the DPP, the hearing date was moved up from April 28 to April 17.

New Central will continue monitoring the proceedings for updates on Quadri’s case.
