Algeria Announces Upcoming Trilateral Summit with Libya and Tunisia

Algeria Announces Upcoming Trilateral Summit with Libya and Tunisia

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has announced that a summit with Libya and Tunisia is imminent, as part of ongoing trilateral consultations between the three nations. The announcement followed a meeting between Tebboune and Mohamed Al-Menfi, head of Libya’s Presidential Council.

Al-Menfi arrived in Algeria on an official visit, continuing political consultations between the two countries. Tebboune noted that they are about to meet in Libya soon within the framework of Algeria-Tunisia-Libya trilateral discussions, with a date to be set by President Al-Menfi.

The first summit of this kind took place in Tunisia in April and serves as a platform for addressing shared issues such as security, irregular migration, and border area development. Al-Menfi confirmed their commitment to regular meetings at both the presidential and specialised committee levels.

Tebboune also reiterated Algeria’s firm stance on resolving the Libyan crisis through elections, stating, “There is no solution in Libya except through elections, and once the Libyan people make their decision, everyone will follow suit.”
