According to local media reports, an Algerian man who had been missing for over 25 years was found held captive in his neighbour’s home in the northern Djelfa province.
Bin Omran Omar’s is believed to have disappeared between 1996 and 1998, during the Algerian Civil War.
Authorities say he was found in an underground hole covered with hay and alleged that his captor had cast a spell on him, making him unable to call out for help
The captor’s brother reportedly exposed the situation on social media following an inheritance dispute.
The man, now in his mid-40s, is getting medical treatment following his rescue while the alleged captor, a 61-year-old man, has been detained.
