Algeria’s interior minister Noureddine was named prime minister on Monday, the official APS news agency reported, in a political shake-up as President Abdelaziz Bouteflika announced from elections.

Bedoui replaces Ahmed Ouyahia as premier and has been tasked with forming a new government, according to APS.

Bouteflika’s decision not to stand for a fifth term in office follows tens of thousands of Algerians taking to the streets to protest his re-election bid.
