Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is set to be arraigned before Kano State High Court No. 7 on June 5.
The former governor of Kano State, along with his wife Hafsat Umar, his son Abdullahi Umar, and five others, are facing trial. The defendants named in the case are Abubakar Bawuro, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textile Ltd, and Lasage General Enterprise Ltd.
The proceedings presided over by Justice Usman Na’abba, were initially slated for a ruling on May 16 regarding the request for substituted service on the defendants. However, Chief Judge Dije Aboki reassigned the case to High Court No. 7, under the jurisdiction of Justice Amina Adamu.
According to reports, the new charge sheet, viewed by journalists, comprises 11 count charges, superseding the initial 8-count charges against Ganduje and his co-defendants. The allegations include criminal conspiracy and breach of trust.
