The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Professor Usman Yusuf.
EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrest in a telephone conversation with Channels Television on Wednesday.
Professor Yusuf was taken into custody after EFCC operatives raided his residence. He is set to be arraigned on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
A petition had been filed against him during the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, alleging misconduct and fraudulent practices.
Yusuf was dismissed from his role in 2019, seven months after a fact-finding panel recommended his removal over the alleged mismanagement of ₦919 million.
