Civilian staff at Nigeria’s Ministry of Defence Headquarters in the capital city of Abuja on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, blocked the entrance to the ministry in protest against the mistreatment of staff by uniformed personnel.
The demonstrators claim that they have faced ongoing harassment from soldiers, with their rights being violated.
They recounted an incident where a colleague in Lagos lost his life after being beaten by soldiers, and another case where a Ministry assistant director was harassed by military personnel.
They are adamant that the protest will persist until the Minister of Defence addresses their concerns.
