This Friday, American rapper Snoop Dogg will carry the Olympic flame through the streets of Saint-Denis, heralding the moment leading up to the Paris Games’ grand opening ceremony. He will be accompanied by French actress Laetitia Casta, French rapper MC Solaar, and retired Ukrainian pole-vaulter Sergey Bubka.
Snoop Dogg, a native of Los Angeles – which will be the host city for the 2028 Games – will participate in the final relay of the Olympic flame, illuminating Saint-Denis, the culturally rich northern suburb of Paris that houses the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre. The town’s mayor, Mathieu Hanotin, confirmed this to AFP on Monday.

The flame has journeyed across France for two months, and on Friday morning, it will be seen through the athletes’ village, which spans Saint-Denis and nearby Saint-Ouen, before reaching the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre a few kilometres away.
In addition to his role in the torch relay, the 52-year-old rapper will also serve as an Olympic commentator for NBC during the 2024 Games.
