Angélique Kidjo Beats the Kutis, Wizkid to Win Best World Music Album (News Central TV)

Multiple Grammy winner and ever vibrant Beninese singer, Angélique Kidjo has won the Best Global Music Album award at the 64th Grammy Awards today.

She won with her project “Mother Nature,” leaving on her trail Wizkid’s “Made In Lagos (Deluxe)”, Femi Kuti & Made Kuti‘s “Legacy+.

While receiving the gilded gramophone, she thanked the Nigerian artistes who featured in the album — Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, and Mr. Eazi.

Kidjo’s fifth Grammy award album ‘Mother Nature’ was worked on by several Producers such as Kel P of (Burna Boy), James Poyser of The Roots, Vtek, Rexxie, Synematik, Blue Lab Beats, -M-, Brad Thomas Ackley, David Donatien and Dany Synthé.

Kidjo is one of the greatest artistes  from Africa constantly putting African arts and music on the global scene.

Kidjo performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver on February 15, 2010.

She performed at the at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on February 28, 2010.

She is a bundle of talents and a creative force with fourteen albums to her name. A recipient of the prestigious 2015 Crystal Award given by the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and the 2016 Amnesty International Ambassador of Conscience Award.

She was part of the Official Kick-Off Celebration Concert of the 2010 FIFA World Cup on June 10, 2010.
Angelique Kidjo performed at the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony.

She concerted at the UNESCO’s International Jazz Day celebration at the UN General Assembly on April 30, 2012.

She performed at Dubai Expo 2020 on September 30, 2021.

She’s performed with several international orchestras and symphonies, including the Bruckner Orchestra, The Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the Philharmonie de Paris.

Her live show was recently captured at the famous Austin City Limits, making its television debut in January 2016. 

In 2019, Angélique Kidjo was named a Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Minister of Culture.
