The President of Angola João Lourenço departed Luanda on Friday for Equatorial Guinea, where he will partake in the summit of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).

The President was accompanied by Vice-President Esperança da Costa, and other members of the government to the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, where he took off from.

The high-level meeting will be held in Djibloho, a new political and administrative centre, according to the secretary of the President of the Republic for Institutional Communication and Press, Luís Fernando.

The Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) was established in Libreville, Gabon in December 1981.

Yesterday, the Council of Ministers of COPAX (Central African Peace and Security Council) on the political transition in the Gabonese Republic commenced a meeting in Djibloho.

ECCAS became operational in 1985, to promote cooperation and self-sustaining development, with particular emphasis on economic stability and improving the quality of life.

Members of ECCAS include Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Sao Tome and Principe and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
