A fuel tanker explosion in Kontagora, Niger State, on Sunday caused panic among residents and motorists but fortunately resulted in no casualties.
The incident occurred near AA Rano, opposite Kontagora General Hospital, when the tanker suddenly ignited, sending thick black smoke into the sky, according to eyewitnesses.
Emergency responders, including firefighters, swiftly arrived at the scene to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings. Despite the intensity of the fire, only the tanker was destroyed.

Hussaini Ibrahim, Director of Information at the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), reassured the public that the situation was under control.
He also confirmed to Channels Television that “no lives were lost and no property was damaged apart from the burnt tanker.”
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion, though preliminary findings suggest it may have resulted from a mechanical fault or fuel leakage.
