Reports say the Supreme Court in Ghana will start hearing a case that may jeopardise the West African Country’s $20 billion debt restructuring and tests the World Bank’s pledge to support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (or queer)(LGBTQ) on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
The court is being told to cancel the legislation that condemns those who identify as LGBTQ and close relatives, associates and teachers who do not inform the authorities about them.
If the court rejects the appeal, Ghana may lose its support from the World Bank in fighting poverty.
