Supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) have stormed collation centres across the state, while awaiting the results of the governorship election.
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the NNPP presidential candidate, had called on his party supporters, while Malam Muhammad Garba, the Gawuna/Garo Campaign Council spokesperson, made the call for the ruling party’s supporters. The reason for this call was to prevent any possible manipulation or alteration of results.
Kwankwaso, who leads the Kwankwasiyya movement, also urged all party supporters to participate in the process to ensure that their votes count. He claimed that based on the results collated so far, his party is confident of winning the governorship election.
Kwankwaso emphasised the need for votes to be accompanied from the polling units to the Registration Area Collation Centres, and even to the Local Government and state levels. He also warned that some individuals were attempting to disrupt the process.
“I thank all Kwankwasiyya and NNPP supporters for their solidarity. But I also call on patriots to make sure that they follow the collation process to their RAC centres, Local Government and even state level.
“We have intelligence reports that some enemies of this state are trying to take advantage of this to disrupt the process,” Kwankwaso said.
News Central’s reporter Bernard Akede said the voting process was mostly smooth and counting and sorting have already started.
While there are multiple parties competing in the election, the race is primarily seen as a two-horse race between Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the APC and Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP.
