Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) for the 2023 polls has announced Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate.
He announced this while addressing press men in Katsina on Sunday, according to a presidential aide, Buhari Sallau.
On arriving Katsina,Tinubu had a brief meeting with party executives including Governor Bello Masari, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari among others.
Ibrahim Masari later announced his stepping down as the running mate of TInubu.
President Buhari, Tinubu and Katsina Governor Aminu Bello Masari then went into a closed-door meeting.
Earlier, the News Agency of Nigeria reported on Sunday that the vice presidential candidate will be unveiled to President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the leader of the party in his hometown in Daura, Katsina State on Sunday (today).
President Buhari has been in Daura since Friday for the Eid-el Kabir celebration.
Former Governor Shettima was prominent in pre-presidential primaries campaign of Tinubu.
Shettima, the representative of Borno Central Senatorial District, was a former two-term Governor of Borno State, North East Nigeria.
