The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised concerns about the circulation of misleading election results during the ongoing Edo State Gubernatorial Election. According to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, certain political groups have been sharing false vote tallies on social media, attempting to misinform the public.
In a statement, Morka urged voters and the public to disregard these unofficial reports and reminded them that only the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is authorised to collate and declare the official election results.
“Consistent with the Electoral Act, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is the sole authorised body empowered to collate results at the Ward, Local Government and State levels, and to officially declare the result of the Election,” Morka emphasized.
He added that while the APC is confident in its early lead, the party remains committed to respecting INEC’s final decision and will not attempt to preempt the commission’s official announcement.
The APC has called on the public to wait for INEC’s official results and to disregard any false information circulating online.
