The Court of Appeal in Ibadan has upheld the selection of Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as Soun of Ogbomosoland. The appellate court’s decision overturned the previous ruling that invalidated the kingmakers’ choice and the coronation of Ghandi.
A panel of three justices, chaired by Justice Yargata Nimpar, was formed to consider the ten grounds of appeal.
The prior judgment issued by Justice K.A Adedokun regarding the complaint presented by Prince Kabiru Laoye indicated that the proper procedures were not adhered to in the selection and coronation of Oba Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomosoland, declaring that the appointment of Oba Ghandi was unlawful and mandated a new selection process to choose a different Soun.

Unhappy with the High Court’s decision, the defendant appealed to the Court of Appeal.
As a result, the judgment clarified all disputes related to the selection and coronation of Oba Ghandi as Soun of Ogbomosoland.
