Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have killed students at Faudiya School in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State. The school, associated with the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), a Shiite sect, was targeted in the early hours of Friday.
The assailants invaded Hausari quarters in Geidam LGA around 3:44 am, attacking the school while the students were asleep. “The gunmen attacked Faudiya School, a well-known Shiite school in Geidam. They brought the students outside and shot them dead,” a local source reported.
The incident has sparked tension and fear among the residents of the town. Another source from the vigilante group confirmed that three students were killed, while one sustained injuries and has been hospitalised.
“We don’t know who the attackers are, but we do know they killed three students. One person was injured while trying to escape and is now receiving treatment,” the source added.
DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Police Command, confirmed the incident but provided no further details. Captain Shehu Muhammad, Assistant Director of Public Relations at Operation Lafiya Dole Sector 2 in Damaturu, promised to provide more information later, but no update had been received at the time of this report.
