In February, the Nigerian Armed Forces said that it had neutralised 974 terrorists and apprehended 621 suspected terrorists and kidnappers around the country as part of its counter-terrorism activities.
On Thursday, February 29, 2024, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director Defence Media Operations, briefed media in Abuja on the activities of the armed forces in February. He also revealed that numerous weapons and ammunition were confiscated, and 466 abducted victims were released during the month in question.
He urged terrorists to repent and come to the negotiating table for peace, warning that the Armed Forces would continue to use immense military strength to punish unrepentant criminals.
The development occurred just days after the Rivers State Police Command presented the body of cult leader 2Baba for the murder of DPO Bako Angbashim.
During the weekly report on the Armed Forces’ activities in January, Buba revealed that on January 10, the air component of Operation Hadin Kai killed three top commanders of Islamic States of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.
According to him, the airstrikes targeted and destroyed the three leaders, Abou Maimuna, Abou Zahra, and Commander Saleh, who were on a canoe with their lieutenants.
