Armed Men Kidnap 100 persons in Nigeria’s Northwest

Fifteen Killed, Forty-Eight Injured as Bandits Ransack Zamfara Mosque (News Central TV)

At least 100 persons have been abducted by gunmen from farmlands in Wanzamai, a community on Zamfara-Katsina border, Northwest Nigeria.

Haruna Isah, a resident of Wanzamai in Tsafe local government area of Zamfara said about 80 children from Wanzamai village were abducted.

He added that more than 20 other persons from Kucheri village in Tsafe local government area of the state and Yankara community in the neighbouring Katsina state were also abducted.

The children were said to have been rounded up and whisked away when they went to fetch firewood in the bush.
The adults were kidnapped on farmlands when they went to clear lands ahead of the year’s farming season.

“The armed men suddenly appeared and then marched the victims into forest. The armed criminals haven’t contacted any family yet. Some families tried reaching out to the adults among the victims but couldn’t get any one,” the contact stated.

Zamfara state Police spokesperson CSP Muhammad Shehu, is yet to respond to inquiries at the time of filing this report.
