Armed robbers stole goods worth thousands of naira from students at the University of Ibadan in Oyo State during a raid on the Awolowo Hall of Residence on Saturday morning.
According to several sources, the things lost included cell phones, jewellery, clothing, and other items.
A student who spoke on the condition of anonymity stated, “Aside from the lost items, the affected students were tortured during the raids, which lasted a few hours.”
Another source claimed that “the security section was alerted by the screaming of the affected students as they hurriedly swung into action.”

“Some of the suspects who were arrested have been handed over to the police at Sango Police Station.”
When contacted, the institution’s public relations officer, Joke Akinpelu, revealed, “According to reports from the hall wardens, the robbers carted away the students’ mobile telephone handsets.”
At press time, Adewale Osifeso, the state police public relations officer, could not be reached for comment.
