Feyenoord coach Arne Slot has confirmed he will replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager in the summer.
Jurgen Klopp, who has led the Reds since October 2015, will step down at the end of the season. His reign has been nothing short of remarkable, securing the Premier League title, Champions League, FA Cup, and two EFL Cups in his near-decade spell at the club.
Several managers had been in the mix since Klopp announced in January that he would be leaving at the end of the season. However, it is Slot who get the nod to fill one of the biggest shoes in the sport.
“I can confirm that I will become the trainer there next year,” Slot said on Friday. It is believed an agreement had been reached with Feyenoord for a compensation of over 9 million pounds for their manager.
After three years in charge, Slot’s final game at Feyenoord will be Sunday’s Eredivisie home match with Excelsior.
Klopp’s final match as Liverpool manager is on the same day with a Premier League game against Wolves at Anfield.
Feyenoord confirmed the 45-year-old’s departure on social media: “The Arne Slot era is coming to an end. Let’s enjoy the last moments.
