After landing in Ghana on Tuesday night, Arsenal attacker Eddie Nketiah was greeted by a large crowd at Kotoka International Airport. The English-born Ghanaian is visiting the country for the World Cup break.

The player was seen wearing the Ghana flag around his neck in a video released on social media, while a group of cultural dancers welcomed him with the ‘adowa’ dance. Nketiah had been in talks with the Ghana Football Association about changing his nationality, but he apparently opted not to go to the World Cup at the last minute.

Nketiah, who was born in England, has played for the Three Lions’ youth teams and is the highest goalscorer at the U21 level.  However, because his parents are both Ghanaians, he is still eligible to play for the Black Stars of Ghana. While he is not a member of Ghana’s World Cup roster, he could yet decide to play for the Black Stars after the tournament.
