Arthur Zwane Emerges as Kaizer Chiefs New Head Coach

Premier Soccer League heavyweights Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed on Thursday, Arthur Zwane as their new head coach for the next three seasons.

Zwane has been the Amakhosi interim coach alongside Dillon Sheppard since the departure of Stuart Baxter in April this year.

Zwane signed a three-year deal with Amakhosi and Sheppard will be his assistant, effective immediately, the club confirmed.

The management believe the 48-year-old is the right man for the coaching job.  Chiefs Football Manager Bobby Motaung said the process of looking for a coach has been going for a while, adding that they were looking for a long-term vision.

The Chiefs management’s decision to hand Zwane the job on the interim came as no surprise as this was the case when Gavin Hunt was sacked in May 2021.

Amakhosi Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr, who played with Zwane said: “It is no secret that we have had a number of challenging seasons over the last few years.

“We have had to make decisive changes in leading us to what we strongly believe will lay the foundation for long term success.

“We are confident that our supporters and all those who are associated with the Kaizer Chiefs brand will have something to smile about soon.

Last season, Chiefs were at risk of missing out on finishing inside the top eight at times at the end of the season.

However, the Soweto-born strategist Zwane came in and saved the day as Chiefs secured their place for the 2021-22 MTN8 Cup as they finished the campaign in eighth position.

This season alone, Zwane was interim coach of Chiefs and he won one, drew two and lost two.
