Nigerian table tennis player Aruna Quadri has maintained his 14th place in the latest International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) rankings, as announced yesterday.
Quadri continues to hold the position of the highest-rated African player globally, with his counterpart from Egypt, Omar Assar, also securing a place in the top 20.
The top five positions in the men’s rankings are dominated by Chinese players, with Fan Zhendong leading, followed by Wang Chuqin and Ma Long in second and third places, respectively. Liang Jingkun and Lin Gaoyuan, both from China, are in the fourth and fifth positions.
Aruna Quadri is positioned ahead of prominent players from around the world, including Hugo Calderano from Brazil, Lin Yun-Ju from Chinese Taipei, Felix Lebrun from France, Lin Shidong from China, Dang Qui from Germany, Tomokazu Harimoto from Japan, Jang Woojin from Korea, and Dimitrij Ovtcharov from Germany.
Among the Nigerian players, Taiwo Mati and Olajide Omotayo are ranked 103rd and 104th, respectively. In the women’s rankings, Fatimo Bello from Nigeria holds the 115th position, while Edem Offiong is ranked 139th.
