Asake’s ‘Omo Ope’ Spends 52 Weeks on Nigeria’s Biggest Music Chart, Making History

Nigeria’s foremost music chart, TurnTable, has announced that Afrobeats superstar Asake has set a new record as the first artiste to spend a calendar year on the official streaming chart. This was announced on Saturday the 28th of January 2023.

The announcement made a revelation that the song, ‘Omo Ope’, which was released on January 18, 2022, has stayed a record 52 weeks on the streaming chart making it the first song to achieve this feat.

‘Omo Ope’ feat Olamide is an Amapiano track that has a combination of chorister backup vocals, log drums, and violins for a major song that pushed forward Asake to mainstream fame. The single opened the doors to a run of hit singles that was magnificently capped with a record-breaking album ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’.

The great length the song has enjoyed on the chart is an assertion not only to its good quality but also to Asake’s unparalleled rise to fame.
