The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) members have been instructed to return to work on Monday, December 16, 2024.
The union observed two weeks of industrial action from December 2, 2024, to December 15, 2024, which ended with the issuance of this directive.
In a statement, ASUP President Shammah Kpanja said the order for polytechnic lecturers to return to work came after the warning strike because the government, through its agencies, was unable to carry out nine of the items in the work plan that ASUP and the government had developed together to address some outstanding trade dispute issues.
“While we thank and commend our members for their commitment and resilience, it is our union’s expected hope that the government will diligently work to ensure a fruitful resolution of the issues in dispute.”
“Although we express our gratitude and admiration for our members’ dedication and perseverance, our union anticipates that the government will make every effort to guarantee a successful settlement of the disputed issues.”
