At least 20 people were killed in a massive missile attack by Russia on cities across Ukraine on Monday, according to officials.

In Kyiv, a deadly daytime attack killed at least seven people and hit a children’s hospital, which is now being evacuated. In Kryvyi Rih, at least 10 people died, and three more were killed in Pokrovsk.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said Russia fired around 40 missiles at various targets across the country, damaging residential buildings, infrastructure, and the children’s hospital.

Cities affected included Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk.

“Russia cannot help but know where its missiles are flying, and must fully answer for all its crimes: against people, against children, against humanity in general.

“It is very important that the world should not be silent about it now and that everyone should see what Russia is and what it is doing,” President Zelensky said in a Telegram post.

Oleksandr Vilkul, head of Kryvy Rih’s military administration, reported at least 10 dead and 31 wounded in the city, with 10 seriously injured.

Social media videos showed significant destruction at the Okhmadyt children’s hospital in Kyiv, though it is unclear if anyone inside was hurt.

Plumes of smoke were seen across Kyiv, highlighting the extensive impact of the attack.

Russia’s most intense missile strikes on Ukraine in months occur just a day before a major NATO summit in Washington.
