Presidential candidate of Nigeria’s Opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential, Atiku Abubakar, has called the recently concluded elections in Adamawa state conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the worst in his over 34 years in politics and highlighted the need to overhaul the electoral process.
INEC announced the results of the controversial Adamawa State governorship election, on Thursday with PDP’s Governorship candidate Ahmadu Fintiri as winner after series of drama ensued that initially saw the Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa-Ari, announce APC candidate Aisha Binani as the winner.
Atiku congratulated Fintiri in a statement through his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday.
Atiku described Fintiri’s victory as a win for democracy and that his triumph proves that good can overcome bad.
The former vice president added that Finitiri’s win is a precursor for his victory at the presidential election tribunal.
Atiku stated, “Congratulations, Gov Ahmadu Fintiri, on your deserved reelection as governor of Adamawa State. Thank you to the people of Adamawa and men and women of goodwill for staying the course in resisting coupists and enemies of democracy from having their way,”
