“They came in numbers. I was slapped before I dodged. People’s phones were seized and the woman beside me fell when they tried to take hers, she couldn’t escape them…It is crazy” Saleh Gwaza sent in a WhatsApp message.

In his reaction, Abubakar called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call supporters of other parties to order.

“I have just received emergency reports of attacks on PDP supporters by thugs sponsored to scuttle the ongoing PDP campaign rally in Kaduna State. This is undemocratic and against the Peace Accord all parties signed up for just a few weeks ago.

“I urge President Muhammadu Buhari to call on all parties to call their supporters and members to order and to ensure that campaigns, just as with the elections themselves, are kept free, fair and safe.”

He questioned why some parties and their supporters could renege so quickly on the peace pact signed weeks ago. The State Police Command said it has deployed security agencies at the venue.
