Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Saturday fired Arsenal to victory in the Community Shield against Liverpool at Wembley.
Aubameyang whose future at the Emirates is still in doubt scored Arsenal’s opener and finished off Jurgen Klopp’s side with a calmly taken penalty.
Liverpool and Arsenal were tied at 1-1 after the 90 minutes, taking the game to a penalty shoot-out.
The 31-year-old striker was the last man to convert from the spot and with Liverpool having missed their second kick, the Gabonese coolly scored to hand Arsenal the first trophy on offer in the new season.
Aubameyang, whose Gunners contract expires next summer, has scored 70 goals in 109 games since joining Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund for a club record £56m in January 2018.
