The Nigerian Police have arrested a vandal on Carter Bridge in Lagos. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin stated this on his Twitter handle on Thursday. Hundeyin stated that officers at the Ebute-Ero division caught a 30-year-old man, Mastru Mutairu vandalising bridge railings and was subsequently arrested. The incident was reported by a motorist who informed the Police about the incident at about 3:15 am local time. He added that investigations are ongoing on the matter.

Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in an online message said that the party official was killed by violent extremists who believe that he shouldn’t have a different idea. A High Court in Accra, Ghana has dismissed a defamation suit filed against Kennedy Agyapong, a Member of Parliament. The suit was filed by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, against Agyapong represents Assin Central in the parliament. In a ruling on Wednesday, the Court presided over by Justice Eric Baah, a Court of Appeal judge who doubles as a High Court Judge, dismissed the case for lacking merit. Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu has adjourned the collation of results for the Nigerian Presidential Elections till 11 am on Monday. This was shortly after the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ekiti, Ayobami Salami read out state results at the International Conference Centre, Abuja. The Masaka District education department in Uganda says it will deny automatic promotion to pupils under Universal Primary Education (UPE) who don’t regularly attend lessons.
