Kidane Zekarias Habtemariam, a notorious human trafficker known for his mistreatment of migrants has been arrested in Sudan.
Following an international police operation, Interpol says Habtemariam, from Eritrea, was wanted by police in Ethiopia and the Netherlands.
The international policing agency said the Eritrean national led a major criminal network responsible for the abduction, extortion and murder of migrants.
Interpol said he was the kingpin of a criminal gang behind the trafficking of thousands of unsuspecting victims.
He was arrested after police in the United Arab Emirates focused on money laundering activities and found him in Sudan.
Interpol said collaborations like this are capable of bringing major breakthroughs and deal significant blow to a smuggling route towards Europe.
