The slain IEBC Embakasi East Returning Officer, Daniel Musyoka was strangled and his neck badly wounded, the autopsy report reveals.
The 53-year-old father of two went missing on Thursday, August 11, 2022, under unclear circumstances.
His autopsy was done at Oloitokitok Sub-County Hospital on Wednesday, two days after his body was discovered. His body showed neither gunshot wounds nor scars.
In a statement on Wednesday evening, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission where he was working at the time of his abduction and subsequent murder, chairman Wafula Chebukati said ‘Musyoka was killed for doing the right thing’.
“He was a well-trained officer who performed his duty with utmost honesty, integrity and dedication. It is unfortunate that his stand to do the right thing cost his life,” Chebukati eulogised the deceased IEBC staff.
Chebukati has also called on the relevant authorities to hasten the investigation process and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.
His body was found four days later, at the Amboseli National Park in Kajiado South Sub-County. Musyoka’s body had visible physical injuries and was naked when it was discovered on Monday evening.
