Shooting Stars of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, have been fined after a club official was caught urinating in the centre of the pitch during a league game. Auwal Mohammed, the camp commandant of Shooting Stars, was photographed performing the act during their home game against Akwa United last Sunday at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
As a result, the Football League’s governing body, IMC, fined the club and suspended the official for what they called a “despicable” act. The Oluyole Warriors and their senior official were heavily criticised in a statement issued by the league’s governing body.
Auwal Mohammed, according to the IMC, violated rule C1.1 of its framework and the NPFL with his “despicable act” that has the potential to bring the game into disrepute in the country.
As a result, Shooting Stars was fined N500,000 for failing to control their camp commandant, Mohammed, who is now barred from all NPFL-related matters for a year.
