A young Ghanaian physician, Dr. Nathaniel Nii Cudjoe, recently shared his inspiring journey to becoming an award-winning medical student at the 55th Congregation of the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

In spite of facing initial obstacles, Cudjoe’s determination and discipline propelled him towards his goal of becoming a medical doctor.

Cudjoe revealed that due to his English proficiency grade, he was not able to secure admission into the University of Ghana’s School of Medicine, despite achieving seven ‘A’s and a B2 in the 2015 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

However, this setback did not deter him from pursuing his dream. Instead, he was offered a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Ghana, which he pursued for one year before transferring to UCC to study medicine.

“I had 7 ‘A’s and a B2 after writing the WASSCE in 2015, so I applied to Legon (UG) that year and I wasn’t granted entry into Medicine, but I was granted entry into Bachelor of Pharmacy, so I did Pharmacy for a year there and then transferred to UCC to study medicine,” Cudjoe shared in a GTV interview.

Cudjoe’s unwavering determination led him to make the decision to transfer to UCC in order to pursue his passion for medicine. Despite the initial setback, his resilience and hard work paid off, and he eventually became an award-winning medical student, showcasing his dedication and commitment to achieving his goals.
