Ayra Starr Drops Cover & Track List for New Album ‘The Year I Turned 21’

Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, known professionally as Ayra Starr, has unveiled the artwork and tracklist for her upcoming sophomore album, ‘The Year I Turned 21’.

In a surprise move, the Grammy-nominated singer shared the album details on her social media, likening her look in the artwork to feeling like “a bag of money”. She explained that posing against a highway backdrop, leaning on a vintage car, gave her that vibe.

The tracklist for ‘The Year I Turned 21’ (TYIT21) is now up for pre-order and is scheduled to officially drop on May 31, 2024.

Excitement for Ayra’s album is sky-high, with fans and fellow artists like Wizkid eagerly anticipating its release.

Featuring heavyweight collaborations from across the globe, the album includes artists like Asake and Seyi Vibes from Nigeria, Giveon and Coco Jones from the US, and Anitta from Brazil.

Ayra Starr’s journey to stardom began at just 16 when she started her fashion career with Quove Model Management. After gaining attention for her covers of popular songs on Instagram, she caught the eye of record executive Don Jazzy, leading to her signing with Marvin Record.

Her breakthrough came in 2022 with the release of “Rush”, which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance and made her the youngest African Female Artist to reach 100 million views on a single YouTube video.

The album, featuring 14 tracks including hits like ‘Birds Sing Of Money’ and ‘Lagos Love Story’, follows the success of Ayra Starr’s debut album, ’19 & Dangerous’.
