The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a suspected baby factory operating in the Ijegun area, rescuing 10 victims and arresting three individuals in connection with the illegal operation. The raid was conducted following a credible tip-off received on Saturday, prompting a swift police intervention.
In a briefing on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that officers arrested the suspected operator, 35-year-old Mariam Vincent, along with two accomplices, 23-year-old Orie Ruth and 18-year-old Ujunwa Ifeanyi. During the operation, seven adult women and three children were rescued from the premises, believed to have been held against their will.

The adult women rescued were identified as Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), and Amaka (26), while the children were named Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2). All the rescued individuals are currently receiving care and support as investigations continue. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspects had abducted the victims from various parts of Lagos, intending to operate an illegal child trafficking ring. Further investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face prosecution.
Additionally, Hundeyin reported that 39 individuals have been arrested over the past two weeks for a variety of offences, including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, child theft, vandalism, and illegal possession of firearms and drugs.
In a separate case, the police rescued two kidnap victims in Igbe Alagemo, Ijede, Ikorodu, following an attack by armed assailants on March 26, 2025. The kidnappers had abducted a 40-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman. After a coordinated operation, the victims were rescued three days later and reunited with their families.
