Bad Weather Forces Temporary Closure of Ethiopia’s Bole International Airport

Bad Weather Forces Temporary Closure of Ethiopia Bole International Airport (News Central TV)

Ethiopian authorities temporarily shut Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, causing all domestic and international flights to be diverted to nearby airports.

Officials said due to bad weather, flights to Addis Ababa are now landing at alternative airports, such as in neighbouring Djibouti, to ensure safety of passengers.

Passengers will be flown back to Ethiopia once the weather improves, the official said. Ethiopian Airlines will deliver up-to-date information on the state of affected flights.

Although Ethiopian Airlines has cited bad atmospheric condition for the diversion of international flights, on Wednesday, several planes could be seen flying over Addis Ababa toward Bole Airport for landing.
