Balogun, Aribo Help Rangers To Historic Scottish League Triumph

Glasgow Rangers emerged Scottish Premier League champions for the first time in 10 years after Celtic failed to beat Dundee United on Sunday.

The Gers emerged champions with six games to spare, and have amassed eighty-eight points from thirty-two games so far. They have won twenty-eight games and drawn four all season, and have conceded just nine, with just two of them coming at home.

Nigerian internationals, Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo were part of the historic Rangers team to ‘stop the ten’. The team, who were relegated to the fourth division after running broke in 2012 returned to the top flight four seasons ago and have challenged for the title in the past three seasons.

Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard masterminded Rangers’ title triumph and said the title will partly heal his old wounds at Liverpool. Gerrard didn’t win a league title in seventeen years at Liverpool despite winning continental and other domestic titles.

Gerrard will also hope to continue Rangers’ impressive Europa League run when they face Slavia Praha in the round of 16 of the competition.
