At least six passengers were abducted on Tuesday morning when armed bandits attacked a vehicle on Shinkafi Road near Kwanar Jalaf village in Zamfara State.
The assailants stopped the Golf car, kidnapped its occupants, and set the vehicle ablaze, leaving residents and commuters in heightened fear.
This incident follows threats issued by notorious bandit leader Bello Turji to target communities in Shinkafi and Zurmi (Zamfara State), as well as Isah (Sokoto State), in early 2025.
Local residents reported that the attackers blocked the road before carrying out the abductions. One resident, speaking anonymously, said, “Six travellers were taken, and their car was torched. We suspect it could be Turji’s group.”
The threats and escalating violence have prompted urgent calls from Shinkafi residents for government intervention against the activities of bandit groups.
Attempts to contact Zamfara State Police spokesperson, ASP Yazid Abubakar, for further comments have so far been unsuccessful.
