Armed Bandits on Sunday invaded Ganar Kiyawa village, Northern Nigeria, killing 24 residents including three Traditional rulers.
News Central gathered that more that the heavily armed assailants invaded Ganar Kiyawa village, Bukkuyum LGA of Zamfara, in the early hours of Sunday on motorcycles, shooting sporadically, leaving more than 24 locals dead.
Two local traditional chiefs were amongst those killed during the onslaught.
Since January, residents in the Bukkuyum and Anka LGAs have been attacked by bandits from the Gando forest. Early this year, 200 people were killed in attacks on multiple villages in the two territories.
Terrorists gathered N12 million from residents of Gana and Nasarawa Burkullu in February before releasing 26 people who had been kidnapped previously. Residents stated the ransom was delivered to the criminals in Gando forest.
Despite military bombardment of their hideouts, armed bandits carrying out ransom killings and kidnappings have continued to wreak havoc in northern Nigeria.
Also, armed separatists have been blamed for an increase in lethal attacks in the country’s south, which have primarily targeted security forces and their installations.
