In Dutsinma Town, the administrative centre of Katsina State’s Dutsinma Local Government Area, Nigeria’s Northwest, bandits have kidnapped six wedding guests.

The victims are reportedly family members of Umar Tata, a candidate for governor in the All Progressives Congress primaries (APC).

“A woman, whose children were mostly kidnapped is the sister of the politician (Tata) and the way the attackers went straight to the house and kidnapped the women, was questionable,” a resident said.

The local, who requested anonymity, claimed that three of the nine hostages taken by the terrorists in Unguwar Kudu Quarters were later freed.

“First, they abandoned an elderly woman who could not trek and a kid who was continuously crying.

“There was a time the bandits came to Dutsinma for four consecutive days and kidnapped people. The situation has become worse and we are disturbed,” the resident lamented.

At the time this report was filed, SP Gambo Isah, the police spokesman, was unable to confirm the incident. He claimed to still be receiving his briefing and pledged to get back to our reporter.

In a separate incident, four Catholic Reverend Sisters were kidnapped on Sunday along the Okigwe-Enugu Road in Imo State.

The Reverend sisters Johannes Nwodo, Christabel Echemazu, Liberata Mbamalu, and Benita Agu were the victims, according to The Saviour.

The sisters were taken hostage while on route to “morning mass,” according to a statement from Zita Ihedoro, secretary general of the religious organisation.

“The sad event of their abduction occurred around Okigwe-Umulolo area this morning shortly after the sisters were on their way to the thanksgiving mass of our sister.

“We implore for intense prayer for their quick and safe release. May Jesus the saviour listen to our prayers and may our mother Mary intercede for the unconditional release of our dear sisters,” the statement read.

Along the Okigwe-Enugu Road recently, numerous people, including the Primate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Catholic priests, and travelers, had been abducted.

Recall,Rev. Fr. Chinedu Nwadike, a Catholic priest, was abducted last week while walking along the street.
