Bandits Kill Governor Radda’s Aide and 30 Others in Katsina State

Katsina State Governor Dr-Dikko-Umaru-Radda...

Bandits have killed Salisu Ango, the liaison officer to Governor Umar Dikko Radda, along with his first wife, during an attack in Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State. The gunmen also abducted his second wife.

In a separate incident in the Shirgi Community of Batsari Local Government Area, bandits killed one person, injured another, and abducted 28 others. The attackers also rustled an unspecified number of domestic animals from the village.

A resident of Shirgi, who requested anonymity, identified the deceased as Amadu Suru, who was shot while trying to tether his animals. The resident reported that the bandits invaded the village on Sunday night, targeting specific houses, with women and children being the primary victims of the kidnappings.

“Many people were initially taken by the bandits, but eventually some of them escaped along the way as they were walking through thick farms. But by our count, 28 are still with them,” the resident stated.

Earlier, on Friday night, the same bandits had attacked Gyaza village in Kankia LGA, killing Salisu Ango and his first wife while abducting his second wife. Reports indicate that the assailants targeted Ango’s residence around 10:00 p.m., shooting him and his wife. Some residents overheard the bandits saying Ango had “paid the price” for marrying the ex-wife of one of their members, despite repeated warnings.

In another attack on Saturday night, the bandits rustled an unspecified number of animals in Tashar Gamji, also in Kankia LGA. The terrorists reportedly moved from house to house, seizing domestic animals, food items, and other valuables.

Earlier last week, bandits also attacked Marabar Kankara village, killing three people and injuring five others.

The Katsina State Police have confirmed the two separate attacks on the communities in Kankia. Police spokesman ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu said he would confirm the Sunday attack in Batsari with the Divisional Police Officer.
