Suspected armed bandits attacked Tsafe town, the council headquarters of Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Northern Nigeria, on Sunday night, killing several locals and the State Commissioner of Security Affairs’ son.

One of the victims, according to residents, is the son of Mamman Tsafe, the State’s commissioner for security affairs.

News Central gathered that the assailants invaded the town after evening prayers, shooting sporadically.

It was said that the incident occurred in the ‘Hayin Tumbi’ area, which is close to the commissioner’s residence, while many people were still in mosques observing their night prayers,

The attack has prompted several residents to flee the town and seek shelter in neighbouring communities.

The attack on Zamfara on Sunday night is the latest in a series of attacks by assailants who have terrorized the state since 2018.

Thousands of people have been killed and hundreds more have been kidnapped by gunmen in Zamfara and other North-western states.

Meanwhile, News Central learnt that bandits on Sunday launched an attack on the Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic in Zaria, Kaduna State, North-West, Nigeria. As of the time of filing this report, the number of casualties recorded from the incident cannot be ascertained.

This is coming nearly one week after terrorists attacked the Kaduna-Abuja train in Kaduna State, killing many, and abducting several.
