Spanish giants, FC Barcelona have announced Music streaming company, Spotify as their new sponsor.
Barcelona made the announcement on Tuesday, after reaching a 4-year agreement with the Swedish company. Spotify , through the deal, has earned naming rights for the stadium, which will now be known as the “Spotify Nou Camp”.
Barcelona will also wear jerseys carrying Spotify as their official shirt sponsor, and are expected to be on all their kits.
The deal is reportedly worth €60m a year, and will see both companies partner across music and football interests.
Barcelona President, Joan Laporta came back on a second stint as club President and is on a mission to revamp the club after a period of gross financial mismanagement saw them in troubled waters.
Laporta during the announcement said; “We are very proud to be able to announce a pioneering alliance with this company as well as a reference entity from around the world with Spotify. This union will allow the Club to continue to support its fans and feel them, facing more, part of the Barça family through unique experiences, which allow them to combine entertainment and football as possible to arrive, at the maximum tempo, to a greater number of people around the world”.
“It is a matter, moreover, of a union that followed many endavant steps in this new era that we have initiated and that demonstrates, one more time, the innovative character and the constant improvement that characterize Barça and that have made it a a unique club,”
The Spotify deal cuts across all Barcelona’s sporting entities including the female football team.
Spotify is one of the largest music-streaming platforms in the world with more than 400m subscribers.
