Spanish giants, Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Senegalese youth international Moussa Ndiaye from Aspire Academy in Senegal on a three-year deal with an option of a two-year extension.
Barcelona announced the signing, stating he has a release clause of €100 million with €500,000 as his transfer fee from Aspire Academy.
Ndiaye can play in both the centre and flanks of the defence line. in 2019, he helped Senegal finish in second place at the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2019 hosted in Niger, and was named as the player of the tournament.
The 18-year-old also played for Senegal at the 2019 WAFU Cup of Nations which he was the Man of the Match in the final game against Ghana which Senegal won via penalties in October.
Ndiaye wrote on his Instagram page of how honored and priviledged he is to sign for Barcelona.
“An honour and great pride to join a club as prestigious as Barcelona, work continues,” Ndiaye wrote on his Instagram page.
The 18-year-old was nominated for the 2019 CAF Youth Player of the Year award earlier this year, but he lost to Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi.
Ndiaye will play with Barcelona B for the 2020 – 2021 season where he joins compatriot Moussa Wague.
THe youngster will follow the footsteps of other African greats who played for Barcelona like Cameroon’s Samuel Eto’o, Ivory Coast’s Yaya Toure, and Mali’s Seydou Keita.
